The Summer Intensive, one of Double Edge's most popular training programs, is ideal for artists of any discipline who are interested in developing their own work in an ensemble context. Over the course of three weeks students take part in 3-4 training sessions daily including:
The sessions take place both in Double Edge's indoor training spaces and outside in the fields, hills, pond and pastures of the Farm Center. The program incorporates the creation of individual and group etudes (studies) which can culminate in a public presentation directed by a Double Edge ensemble member. The research in this summer’s program will use as a foundation the rich visual world of 20th-century painter Marc Chagall, whose images of flight, circus and parade offer new opportunities to explore narrative and the dramaturgy of image. The Summer Intensive is open to students of all levels of experience.
All students are housed at Double Edge's international center for theatre collaboration, in an historic 1830s boarding house in Ashfield center. Student housing includes a shared kitchen, living room, grounds and bedrooms. The house a short walk away from Ashfield Lake, Elmers Cafe, the post office, a lanudromat, Ashfield Library and the Ashfield Lakehouse (a local bar/restaurant). Phone and internet usage is an additional, one-time fee of $10.
