The Farm

Double Edge is located in Ashfield, Massachusetts, where it operates the Farm, a rich environment for both experiential learning and performance on 105 acres of historic buildings, forests, pastures and organic gardens. After 12 years based in Boston, Double Edge acquired the Farm with the idea of creating a self-sufficient artists' haven, in which the concept of 'living culture' could be pursued. Transcending the common notion of art as a commodity or one-time entertainment, 'living culture' embraces art as a vital and essential part of a community's life. Since the opening of the Farm Center in 1997, Double Edge has presented its own performances, hosted international artists and groups, and held discussions and symposia.
