The Magician of Avalon

The Magician of Avalon
2007 Indoor/Outdoor Traveling Summer Spectacle

Fantasy, myth, romance, and magic came alive in Double Edge Theatre's The Magician of Avalon, a traveling performance spectacle based on the much-loved Arthurian Legends of Merlin, the Lady of the Lake, and the Knights of the Round Table. Celebrating Double Edge's twenty-fifth anniversary, The Magician of Avalon premiered in August 2007 at the Farm. In the tradition of Double Edge's highly physical and boldly visual work, this production led audiences through a magical journey in and out of doors where they encountered scenes of love, honor, betrayal, and the futility of war.

Double Edge's The Magician of Avalon was a truly collaborative project, co-presented with the Charlestown Working Theater (linked) of Boston and q-Staff Theatre (linked) of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition, Double Edge was proud to host artists from Central and Western Europe, including Michal Kuriata, a performer and visual artist from Poland. With a cast of over twenty members, The Magician of Avalon celebrated a variety of performance traditions - from puppetry to circus arts to Celtic song and opera. Community members from the Pioneer Valley, including local youth, added their unique talents to the production, making this an exciting summer event filled with imagination, artistry, and fun for all ages.
