Advanced Winter Intensive!
"I was given the opportunity to face myself in new ways in an environment with a high standard of honesty."
"The most interesting part of the program was training without explanations, the essentializing of language through action, moving through perceived limitations in rhythm and relationship."
This annual 5-day intensive takes place in the snowy hills of Double Edge's Farm Center. It is a short but intense introduction to the ensemble's 30-year-old original training methodology layering individual and group work, rigorous physical training with improvisation, design, dramaturgy, the voice, and work with objects and flying. This year's program is co-led by the Charlestown Working Theater, Double Edge's long-term collaborators of the past 20 years. Limited spots available. Early enrollment strongly suggested. Students are housed at Double Edge's international center for theatre collaboration, in a historic 1830s boarding house in Ashfield center. Student housing includes a shared kitchen, living room, grounds, and bedrooms. The house is a short walk from the Ashfield Lake, Elmer's Cafe, the post office, a laundromat, the town library, and the Ashfield Lakehouse (a local bar/restaurant). Phone and internet use is an additional, one-time fee of $5.
