Advanced Winter Intensive!
"I was given the opportunity to face myself in new ways in an environment with a high standard of honesty."
"The most interesting part of the program was training without explanations, the essentializing of language through action, moving through perceived limitations in rhythm and relationship."
"a ground-breaking week"
Jeff Ginsberg, Professor of Theatre, Columbia College of Chicago
This program focuses on the creation and development of individual work within the context of a group. Students receive daily training in the areas of improvisation, design, music, and object work, and one-on-one mentoring from ensemble members toward the development of an individual or group ‘etude.’ The Winter Intensive is ideal for those interested in using a physical approach to developing their own artistic work.
Students are housed at Double Edge's international center for theatre collaboration, in a historic 1830s boarding house in Ashfield center. Student housing includes a shared kitchen, living room, grounds, and bedrooms. The house is a short walk from the Ashfield Lake, Elmer's Cafe, the post office, a laundromat, the town library, and the Ashfield Lakehouse (a local bar/restaurant). Phone and internet use is an additional, one-time fee of $5.
